Nikon lens updates

Nikon just announced an update for 2 lenses which I own : the 70-200mm f2.8 and 18-200mm. In both cases, the VR was upgraded to VRII, supposedly giving a 2 stop increase in stability over the older version. Not sure whether the optics are better though.
There isn’t enough going for these 2 updates for me to upgrade to either. Their predecessors were too good, I suppose.
Also introduced were the D300s and D3000.
I wish Nikon had more breakthroughs. They’re getting kinda stale.

They’re just waiting for canon to play catchup I guess.

Actually, I do think that Canon has got its own stable of good lenses in the L range. Just different markets, I suppose. I always thought of Nikon as the “working man’s” lens. A bit more hardy and reliable. Canon comes across as having great glass, but being not quite as tough. But yeah, they have their own markets.
