The City of San Jose’s Housing Department was working on its most recent Housing Element Update. Rather than simply listing the number of built affordable housing units and housing programs, City staff wanted constituents to get a glimpse of the lives of low-income workers living in or struggling to find affordable housing. This series accompanied interviews of residents of affordable housing developments in the City. I followed them through their work day and visited their homes, and had the privilege of showcasing aspects of their life stories and proudest works.
